Texture, Motion, and a Rihanna Music Video

Posted on January 1, 2020 in Uncategorized

Calming is one word a Rihanna music video is not. As a matter of fact, you can’t watch one of her music videos and remain indifferent. You just can’t. They all have one thing in common: motion – sleek, fluid, throbbing motion.

Just what is it about a Rihanna music video that compels us to get our groove on, too? Is it her voice? Her sinewy body? Her sensuous way of moving to all sorts of beat?

Whatever it is that Rihanna has, it is potent. She has the hipper, younger half of the nation all tickled and eager to stand under her umbrella-ella-ella. The starlet channels a glut of personalities in her music videos. She was chic and sophisticated in Take a Bow as she drove a Porsche around Venice in a red leather jacket, black trousers, and black lacy top. She was every bit the siren as she danced to the disco-ey S.O.S (Rescue Me). In Don’t Stop the Music, Rihanna showed us the timelessness of the little black dress as she begged us not to stop the music.

And what of the music video Umbrella? In Umbrella, Rihanna brought the word sultry to life. She oozed sexiness from every pore as she tells us we can stand under her umbrella. Not surprisingly, Umbrella became a runaway success. It not only topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart, it held that position for seven weeks! In the UK Singles Chart, it hogged the number one sport for 10 consecutive weeks, making it the longest-running chart-topper in a decade!

Not one to rest on her laurels, the star has another music video coming out, Disturbia. Made under the direction of David LaChapelle, this music video has been raking a lot of hype. Insiders say it continues the direction Gone Girl Gone Bad has taken and presents an edgier, more complex Rihanna.

Top 10 Celebrity Styles For 2008-2009

Posted on December 30, 2019 in Uncategorized

Every year we look to celebrities for fashion inspiration and new styles. Looking back over this year we can say that 2008 did not disappoint. Although some celebrities veered a little too far left of what is fashionably acceptable many others hit the bulls-eye. Even if you didn’t commit to any of the following trends, you can’t deny that they made statements in 2008. We have broken them down in order from 1 – 10 and let you know who owned that specific celebrity style.

Fashion Trend # 1: The Two-finger ring. This is one of the coolest jewelry trends we’ve seen in awhile. It has been spotted on famous celebrities such as Rihanna and Lauren Conrad from ”The Hills”.

Fashion Trend # 2: Baggy ”Boy” Jeans. This was a hit-and-miss look. It really depended on the body type of the person sporting the look. We think the new Baggy Boy Jeans should have a distressed and loose look, but should also be cut to show off a woman’s curves. This celebrity style was rocked by Reese Witherspoon and Katie Holmes.

Fashion Trend # 3: Nail Designs. Many celebrities decided to wear crazy colors on their nails this year. Those celebrities include Beyonce, Eve and Rihanna.

Fashion Trend # 4: Sky-Scraper High Heels. Every year high-heels get higher and more dangerous looking. If you don’t believe us just take a look at Victoria Beckham and Madonna.

Fashion Trend # 5: Pointless Accessories. Anything and everything was up for grabs to be an accessory in 2008. Just take a look at Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and Beyonce.

Fashion Trend # 6: Obama T-Shirts. For the first time we can remember political T’s were available and worn by the general public. Check them out on Halle Berry, Beyonce and P Diddy Combs.

Fashion Trend # 7: Nerdy Glasses. Geek-chic is a sure thing, when worn right. But be careful because dark, thick plastic frames aren’t a look everyone can pull off. If you want to see them worn right check out the celebrity style of Kanye West, Jay-Z and Common.

Fashion Trend # 8: Bangs. This look also doesn’t work for everyone, but when it does, watch out! Check out the bangs on Jessica Alba and Christina Aguilera…HOT!

Fashion Trend # 9: Leather Jackets. This look was taken straight from the 80’s, but worked great in 2008. Some celebrities rocking leather jackets were Vanessa Hudgens and Rihanna.

Fashion Trend # 10: Hippie Headband. Very few people can actually pull this look off. Personally, I’m not of fan of it on anybody. Some ladies sporting the hippie headband this year were Nicole Richie and Mischa Barton.

As you can tell there were many new celebrity styles this year, along with some re-tread styles. Every year we are amazed at what people bring back out of the closet and add to their wardrobe. No matter how much we may fight it, the looks always seem as glamorous and hot as they did before. We can’t wait to see what celebrity styles these people pull out next year. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!

Rihanna – What’s My Name Ranks Billboard’s First Place

Rihanna’s newest album Loud has been a great success recently. The two songs Love the Way You Lie and Only Girl are especially popular. On the 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards ceremony, Rihanna was dressed like a floral fairy and performed.

It is quite happy and excited to see your favorite singer achieving great success. Actually in our lives there are always people we admire. Sometimes it is a singer, a writer or a painter. We read lots of their stories and are inspired by them. In our difficult times, they give our strength and belief. We cherish them and sometimes we even fight for them if people say something not nice about them.

Personally speaking, I like Michael Jackson, who bears a controversial reputation. He is famous and vastly admired. But still he is criticized and judged. In my eyes, he is not only the star in pop music world, but also successful as a human being. Even today when I listen to heal the world, I am touched by the softness and care he shows in this song. I have no wish to use past tense to talk about him because in my heart, he is still alive.

Music not gives us much pleasure but also provides us another way to understand or know the world. It shows the sorrow and joy in our lives. It tells the sweetness and pains in the love stories. It gives us hopes and future when we are in trouble or trapped. It has no nation borders. A great piece of music is always appreciated by people from the entire world.

Listening to music has a lot of fun. Strangers can make friends with each other by sharing the music or musicians they know. It is quite common now. For some people, they even fall in love with each other. So music is really a good thing in our lives. Can people picture the lives without music?

As Christmas is coming, you can choose an album or a CD for your friend even now we listen quite a lot online. Love music, love life.
